Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-23

This Privacy Policy describes how the ExamsGuru mobile application (“ExamsGuru”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our app. By installing or using ExamsGuru, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and stop using our services.

1. Who we are

ExamsGuru is a mobile application that helps users discover and track upcoming Indian government exams (UPSC, SSC, Banking, State PSCs, and similar), receive exam reminders, and read daily current-affairs updates.

2. Information we collect

ExamsGuru is designed to work without you creating an account or providing personal details. The app currently does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, photos, contacts, location, microphone, or camera.

However, like most mobile apps, we and our service providers automatically receive some information when you use the app:

2.1 Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical data. Operating system type (Android / iOS) and version, app version, device model, language settings, and crash diagnostics.
  • IP address. Automatically logged by our servers when the app makes network requests. We use it to operate and secure the service.
  • Push notification token. If you grant notification permission, the app sends us a push token issued by Apple or Google so we can deliver exam reminders and current-affairs alerts to your device. The token is associated only with your device, not with any personal identity.
  • App usage signals. Which exams you save, which current-affairs days you mark as read, and your language preference. These are stored on our servers so your preferences persist across app reinstalls on the same device.
  • Advertising identifier. Google AdMob uses your device’s advertising ID to serve ads. See Section 4 for details and opt-out instructions.

2.2 Information you provide

If you contact us at privacy@examsguru.app, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.

2.3 Information we do not collect

  • Your name, email, phone number, or government ID
  • Your location (GPS or otherwise)
  • Your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera
  • Your browsing history outside the app
  • Sensitive personal data such as health, biometric, or financial information

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Deliver the core features of the app (showing exams, saving exams, sending reminders, current-affairs updates)
  • Send push notifications you have opted into
  • Display ads (see Section 4)
  • Diagnose crashes and improve reliability
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to operating the app.

4. Advertising

ExamsGuru is supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob (operated by Google LLC) to show banner, native, rewarded, and interstitial ads inside the app.

To serve ads, AdMob may collect and process:

  • Your device’s advertising ID (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS)
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Device information (model, OS version, language)
  • Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks)

AdMob may use this information to show personalized ads. You can control this:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalization.”
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off “Personalized Ads.”

You can opt out of personalized advertising from participating providers at:

5. Service providers and third parties

We share information only with the following categories of service providers, and only as needed to operate the app:

We do not sell or rent your data to any third party for their own marketing.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or valid government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ExamsGuru, our users, or the public.

6. Data retention

  • Saved exams, read history, and language preference: retained as long as the app is installed and used. You can clear all of this at any time from Settings → Data → Reset App Data inside the app.
  • Push tokens: retained while the app is installed and valid. We delete tokens that the platform reports as expired or invalid.
  • Server logs (including IP addresses): retained for up to 90 days, then deleted or anonymised, unless a longer period is required by law.

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@examsguru.app. We will respond within 30 days. Because we hold very little identifying information, we may need additional details from you (such as the push token shown in your device’s notification settings) to locate your data.

8. Children’s privacy

ExamsGuru is intended for users aged 13 and over. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and we have collected their data, please email privacy@examsguru.app and we will delete the data promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS in transit, restricted server access, hashed device tokens) to protect the limited data we hold. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International data transfers

Our servers and service providers may process data in countries outside your country of residence, including India and the United States. By using the app, you consent to such transfers. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable) for cross-border data flows.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top, and where appropriate, notify you inside the app or at first launch after the update. Your continued use of the app after the new policy takes effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Contact
